I haven’t written in a while – I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time. But I wanted to let you know that Frosty is still in need of a good home. He’s such a beautiful kitty, and sure to make a great pet.

Frosty

In case you are concerned because of his FIV status, here is some information regarding the virus:

  • The Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years.
  • FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.
  • FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.
  • FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually – like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing.
  • The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.)
  • A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.
  • FIV-positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.

Frosty will need to be a strictly indoor kitty, but in my original post I also said he’d need to be in a single kitty home. Obviously from the information above this isn’t the case. If you can help this sweet boy out, or know someone who can, please contact me.

Here is Frosty’s information:

This neighborhood tomcat was rescued and tested positive for FIV. Other levels in his lab report were fine and his attitude is fantastic, so we are giving this kitty a huge second chance.

He will need to be strictly in-door only. His rescuers have funded his vaccinations, neuter and dental cleaning, so he will have a fresh, healthy start in his new home.

In typical reformed-tomcat fashion, he is a lovable sweetheart. He will make someone a wonderful pet, if only he could be given the chance. He is being boarded so please respond quickly. (Contact me for contact information regarding Frosty)
