Sweet, Sweet Tiffany
January 7, 2008
She was my beautiful wife, but she was also a wonderful daughter, friend, cousin, and a breath of fresh air to many dogs and cats. I can’t believe that she passed away on December 19th at age 38 from surgery complications. We just celebrated her 20 year liver transplant birthday in November.
She was a sweet person and is missed by so many.

Mini Guinea
December 5, 2007
Little Guinea. She’s too adorable! Guinea is definitely the smallest dog I visit, she’s a Yorkipoo. She’s got a fantastic personality and is so funny. We go for walks all the time and have fun, but her favorite thing to do is play fetch! She gets revved up and off she goes, chasing whatever toy I happen to throw. It’s too cute because her toys are pretty much her size if not slightly bigger.
Here are pictures of Guinea.

My Four Cali/Callie’s
November 28, 2007
Folks who have Calico cats know that they are the best. They have fantastic personalities and are very social. Sure, I’m biased. I have the best ever Calico, the lovely Miss Deeter. I also happen to know though that Calicos are terrific because I get to spend time with several of them. Of the 6 Calico’s I watch (not counting my sweet Deeter kitty, who usually ends up watching me) 2 are named Cali and 2 are named Callie. It’s got to be the most popular Calico cat name out there. I’ll have to look that up.
Here are the Cali/Callie pictures – but, my sweet Deeter is first:

Update – Frosty the Tomcat
July 25, 2007
I haven’t written in a while – I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time. But I wanted to let you know that Frosty is still in need of a good home. He’s such a beautiful kitty, and sure to make a great pet.

In case you are concerned because of his FIV status, here is some information regarding the virus:
- The Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years.
- FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.
- FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.
- FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually – like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing.
- The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.)
- A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.
- FIV-positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.
Frosty will need to be a strictly indoor kitty, but in my original post I also said he’d need to be in a single kitty home. Obviously from the information above this isn’t the case. If you can help this sweet boy out, or know someone who can, please contact me.
Here is Frosty’s information:
This neighborhood tomcat was rescued and tested positive for FIV. Other levels in his lab report were fine and his attitude is fantastic, so we are giving this kitty a huge second chance.
He will need to be strictly in-door only. His rescuers have funded his vaccinations, neuter and dental cleaning, so he will have a fresh, healthy start in his new home.
In typical reformed-tomcat fashion, he is a lovable sweetheart. He will make someone a wonderful pet, if only he could be given the chance. He is being boarded so please respond quickly. (Contact me for contact information regarding Frosty)
Skylar, is that you?
July 9, 2007
Skylar is 11 years old this year. I got her in 1996 from the Humane Society. I was actually introduced to her at work and then went to the shelter to adopt her. She’s a sweet girl, although a little high-strung. She probably gets that from being an Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix. At least I think that’s what she is – sometimes she looks a little like she’s got Border Collie in there also.
But not now. For the first time ever, Skylar got a haircut today. Well…not exactly a haircut, more like a buzzcut. I barely recognized her when I went to pick her up! It had to be done – she was shedding like crazy and I could tell she was miserable. I think she looks great – but she definitely looks different. Let me know what you think.

Nova, YoYo & Hobo Jack
July 8, 2007
I recently spent time with 3 wonderful kitties named Nova, YoYo & Hobo Jack. They were fun to visit – we just played the whole time. Nova and YoYo were still in the process of getting to know Hobo Jack, since he had just recently joined the family. I think it had been a while since they were around any kittens – and Hobo Jack is one of the most energetic I’ve met. He was hilarious! He would chase anything and when I sat on the floor he would climb my shirt to get onto my shoulder. Such a character!

Little Bit
July 4, 2007
Little Bit is my sweet boy kitty. He’s 8 years old and was recently diagnosed with asthma. This weekend I took him in to the vet and they gave him a steroid shot. They also prescribed a new bronchodilator for him since the last one made him aggressive toward my other cats.
Little Bit weighs 19lbs. That is crazy! He used to be an outdoor cat, and was at a healthy weight, but in late December of 2005 he showed up injured after being missing for a few weeks. After that he became in indoor kitty. So…now he has to lose 7lbs. I put him on weight management food yesterday and had to separate him from my other cats. It’s for dietary reasons because he will eat all their food – and when he finishes their food he will eat the dog food. He’s ridiculous.
Here’s a picture – he has that look on his face because I caught him snuggling with Milo.

Frosty the Tomcat
June 29, 2007
Two of my kitty-loving clients recently rescued a stray in their neighborhood after seeing that it was injured. Frosty has been coming around their homes for quite a while, and they’ve kept him well fed! After rescuing him & taking him to the vet they discovered that he has FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
Frosty is currently being boarded as he can’t be around other cats that are not FIV positive. Could you foster or adopt him? He’ll need to be in a single cat home. Here is more information and pictures:
This neighborhood tomcat was rescued and tested positive for FIV. Other levels in his lab report were fine and his attitude is fantastic, so we are giving this kitty a huge second chance.
He will need to be strictly in-door only and either be the only cat or with other FIV positive kitties. FIV is not transmittable to other species.

Weimaraners
June 24, 2007
Wyatt & Brody are two of my walking dogs. We go several days a week and have a great time. Brody loves to stalk the squirrels in the neighborhood – it’s pretty darn cute! He gets into his hunting stance and will stay that way for our entire walk. Wyatt’s an absolute doll and loves kisses & having his butt scratched.
They are beautiful, gentle, well-behaved & totally funny. I walk them on a coupler – Brody is definitely stronger and will sometimes end up pulling Wyatt along with him. But they don’t pull me, which I totally appreciate!
The boys are both rescue dogs from the Weimaraner Rescue of North Texas. The rescue is full right now and in need of foster homes. If you, or anyone you know, has room to foster one of the wonderful Weimaraners at the rescue, please contact the organization.

Silly Schnauzers!
June 21, 2007
Here are Max & Maggie, the miniature schnauzers I spend time with. They have completely different personalities. Maggie is very energetic and “go get ‘em” and Max is more laid back and likes to take things slow. Maggie is absolutely fearless…well, I guess that’s where they are alike.
They are almost 7 months old and so much fun to spend time with. Maggie loves to play with the frisbee and Max likes to hunt for bugs and other edible (and sometimes not so edible) items in the yard. We have such a fantastic time together.
Here’s Max

Here’s Maggie
